2017 Program

Day 1: 

The 2017 CDI Industrial Training Program kicked off on Monday, June 10 with 21 students. On their first day in class they were welcomed by Program Director, Cindy Tavi, got an introduction to the industrial field from experts at Lee Industrial Contracting and took a tour of the Lee facilities.

Day 2:

On the second day of the program, students received lessons in Safety, Blueprint Reading, Math & Measurements, and Job Planning. All taught my Lee Industrial Contracting's expert staff.

Days 3 & 4:

Students learned how to safely operate heavy equipment. At Lee Industrial Contracting safety is a core value. During the program students learn from industry experts the correct steps and procedures necessary to be safe and efficient in the workplace.
 
  
 
 

Days 5 & 6:

Students got their hands dirty on their first day of in-shop training, where they learned MIG, TIG and Arc welding, and how to bend, thread, solder and weld pipe.

Days 7 & 8:

Students got their hands on some power, using fabrication machinery, such as a bridgeport, lathe and press brake, and tools for foundations and concrete work, such as a frontloader, jackhammer and concrete saw.

Days 9 & 10:

Technical Teamwork: On the last two days of shop training, students learned electrical and rigging by working together to wire a wall and using hand signals to move and rotate a steel structure.

Days 11-29:

Industrial Trades Training continued for the CDI students in various Lee Contracting Departments.
